The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) traces its origins back to 1991. Despite a challenging start, the charity officially registered with the Charity Commission in May 2002 and was relatively steady by 2004, when it expanded its fleet with a third helicopter.

Today, GNAAS operates across the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria, and the Isle of Man. Its current fleet includes two helicopters alongside several Rapid Response Vehicles. The Challenge

The GNAAS planned to open a volunteer-run pop-up charity shop. To ensure it aligned with the charity's marketing policy, the shop needed to look professional and inviting while accommodating diverse displays for a wide variety of items.

The Results

The entire process took less than a week, with the mannequin arriving just seven days after initial contact. This fast turnaround gave them plenty of time to perfect their setup. The chosen mannequin served as the centrepiece of their pop-up shop, dressed in a stunning evening gown, adding an air of elegance that immediately drew visitors in and sparked numerous compliments.

It also meant that they could plan how to use the mannequin for future events, whether for similar pop-up shops or other features.

“We are hoping to run the pop-up shop every few months and ‘Marie the Mannequin’ will be a regular feature. We are also in discussion about using her in the reception area of our HQ to showcase a ‘garment of the week’ to promote our charity Vinted Pro shop.”
