10 Useful Items to Improve Your Showroom

A well organised and stocked showroom can really boost sales and maintain customer satisfaction again and again.

Whatever theme or style you have devised, here are the two key principles to keep in mind:

  • Consider the customer journey – how will they travel around the space?
  • How will you display each product to encourage spend?

Whilst these ideals might seem obvious, the practice takes a bit of work. We’ve put together a list of ten useful pieces of equipment to take your showroom design a few steps further, along with a few tips to help you out.

The Walls

The blank canvas of the showroom walls is a great place to start.

So, how do you make the most of this space?

1. Slatwall Panels and Accessories

Need a flexible and incredibly customisable solution? Look no further than the basic design of Slatwall. The panels and accessories give you plenty of options for displaying a whole host of products.

Whether you are hanging clothes from arms, or attaching acrylic shelves for placing books; these attachments can be easily moved for true customisation. Great if you are looking to adjust the layout of your showroom over time (e.g. for a new season).

Tip: If you want a contemporary appearance, opt for white slatwall which will make the space look cleaner, and with the right amount of lighting will also create the illusion of a larger space.

Your choice of accessories will depend on the articles that you sell. With hooks, arms and shelves in different shapes and sizes available, the options are plentiful. Just remember not to overcrowd the panels as this will soon appear messy.

2. Wall Fix Shelving

If you are setting up a homely environment, why not add some wall shelves?

These can be styled with a few items such as ornaments, books, magazines or flowers. Keep it simple and neat when dressing these ledges.

Use subtle but strong uprights (which can be customised to match the shelves or walls) to keep everything secure.

Tip: Contrast the shelving colours with the products and wallpaper to fashion a look that makes the merchandise really stand out.

Floor Units

Once the walls are accounted for, you will want to think about which units you need for the rest of the space.

3. Chrome Wire Shelving

You might recognise this type of unit from Masterchef, and it is a great solution for food storage but it can do so much more.

It’s a very popular choice for showrooms as the mesh shelving provides a full view of your products. The industrial design is particularly appealing within an interior showroom, and the units are incredibly simple to set up – ideal if you are looking to change the space regularly.

Much like the Slatwall, chrome wire is fully adaptable. It is easy to add extra levels if merchandise demand changes and a heavy duty unit can support up to a 250kgs uniformly distributed load.

Use these units for medium sized items – but keep it minimal as busy shelves can be overwhelming in a showroom environment.

Tip: Invest in heavy duty castor wheels so that you can move the unit as and when required. This will be really helpful when you need to restock – you can simply push the unit to the stockroom space and back again once loaded up.

4. Display Furniture

Four stunning furniture ranges, all are equally superb as a display feature to present your merchandise in any showroom. These include the ever-popular Silhouette range, which is available in white, black and beech. Coordinate colours and mix modular counters and other units, freestanding tables, towers or gondolas to create a complete furniture system. The Skyline range boasts an elegant panoramic frameless, glass display offering an unrivalled all-round view. The feature illuminating LED spotlights provide a practical yet sophisticated element to your presentations. Sleek and elegant the Contour display counters and cabinets range provides a varied choice of vision panels using attractive glass display, while encased within its smooth, silvery, aluminium shell. Finally, the high-quality Aura range offers robust & hard-wearing furnishings, delivered to you fully-assembled. Aura counters, corner units, till units & Slatwall gondolas come in an extensive choice of colours & wood finishes. These Slatwall furnishings obviously work wonders with any Slatwall panelling around your showroom.

5. Retail Shelving

Centre floor displays are crucial to garner interest and can really diversify the layout of the sales area.

Gondola units offer a perfect view for customers who like to interact directly with items.

Use these for showing off key promotional products, and position the units prominently towards the front of the space – if kept too far back or too close to other displays, emphasis will be taken away from the merchandise.

Tip: Join multiple units to form a path from the front to the back of the area – this means that patrons will need to pass all of your sales areas to explore the store.

6. Display Island Gondolas

Do you have touchy-feely products that would benefit from central exposure?

Display islands have multiple heights which help to catch people’s eye.

Much like retail shelving, with their 360 degree capabilities, these stands can persuade the customer to take a specific path.

Tip: Always exhibit similar small pieces on these units as larger items will look messy and are better placed on more robust shelves like chrome wire. Display islands are particularly ideal for apparel.

The Finishing Touches

7. Acrylic Stands

Looking to add more height to your exhibits?

These hard-wearing stands are great for showing off small items, such as accessories on top of tables or in the window.

Tip: By varying height, the pieces will stand out more, and these transparent bridges, risers and stands allow light to pass through them, preventing shadows which could take away customer focus.

Once all these pieces of equipment are in place, it’s time to add the finishing touches – from pricing to queuing.

8. Point Of Sale Clips

Just think of the difference it can make to your profits by providing the information needed to encourage buyer’s to part with their cash. Point of sale clips are ideal for showcasing the product’s description and price.

If you’re using chrome wire shelving, this wire basket or shelf clip will grip materials up to 1.6mm thick, so you can opt for a high quality laminated card or similar. Using Slatwall? This poster holder is ideal for attaching lightweight signage.

Tip: Ensure you have the right type of clip for its purpose – view our full range here.

9. Sign Holders & Literature Stands

It’s time to draw in the audience and be remembered by reinforcing your brand.

  • Use pavement signs to encourage footfall – heavy duty signs and A boards are weatherproof, making them perfect for outdoor use.
  • Tip: Avoid using too much text on these signs, only sticking to the basic information the customer needs to be enticed.
  • If you have brochures, leaflets or catalogues, then literature stands are perfect for showing them off and making them easy for browsers to grab, flick through, or take home.
  • For counter tops or tables, a multi-tier holder is ideal. Want shoppers to grab and go on the way out of the showroom? You can also get freestanding stands for A4 sized literature. To choose which is suitable for you take a look.

Tip: Do not mix leaflets and brochures together on the same stand as this can look disorganised.

10. Barrier Posts

The customers are flowing through, and they are ready to make a purchase.

Demand is exciting, so keep it lasting by having an effective queuing system in place.

Barrier posts will help to generate the order that customers crave when it comes to lining up to make an enquiry or a purchase.

Tip: Rope barriers emit a classic style or a sense of exclusivity; whist retractable ones are more contemporary and are more adaptable if the queue increases.
