6 ways to make your mark with an awesome outdoor event

Warmer weather predicatively always draws a crowd, even more so when it comes to outdoor events, particularly festivals, country fairs, and theme parks! A lift on the temperature gauge means a consumer splurge on refreshing their summer wardrobe as well as purchasing outdoor equipment.

Get involved with festival season
Every year more and more festivals take to the UK villages, countryside, quays and shorelines. If your store is near one or two, join in. You could become an outlet to sell tickets and promote this in your window and counter display or select one or two of the bigger national festivals taking place over the summer months which best fits into your product offering or brand. Again, reflect this in your display with flags, bunting and balloons. If you sell footwear, perhaps stock the latest wellies that Glastonbury festival goers would need for the famous outdoor muddy camping event. It’s a great idea to create a window or in-store display which shows products you stock that would be most useful in that environment.

Be a good Summer Sport
With a calendar packed full of sport coming up there’s probably more than one sport that can pay dividends to you. From rugby to football, racing to tennis, whether you are running a clothing, specialist foods or gift shop, restaurant, bar or café, team up with your sport and use in your favour while the moment lasts. This is seen frequently by the larger department stores and supermarkets. For example if you supply luxury fashions, create an angle in your display centered around a day at the races, great for both male and female formal wear. If you sell jewellery perhaps highlight your display with a range of sportsman sponsored watches with display stands or for a gift shop, offer a collection of sporting keepsakes or brands associated with the sport. Promote your current product offerings throughout the store and window display while they are foremost in your customer’s minds.

Create the mood

Holidays are the time to relax and make precious memories with family and friends. A great time for a promotion, so give your customer an experience, transform them to the hotel pool or nostalgic long hot summers with a picnic on the beach. Use these ideas to conceptualise your display and capture a mood. Keep your displays full of colour and vigour and invite people in with bold and sun-inspired promotions. If you are exhibiting or attending a fate or fair, have someone on the stall or at the gates of the event with a ‘too good to miss’ summertime offer. A welcoming face and friendly chat on the frontline can do wonders for the personal touch of your brand and encourage footfall, sales and return visits.

Show off

In a crowded festival field brimming with stands, outdoor display can be the answer to shouting the loudest, grabbing attention and drawing in potential customers to your store or stall. With an ever-growing range of outdoor display signage and other merchandising holders, Shopfitting Warehouse can provide the perfect solution to make an eye-catching spectacle even with the great British Summer weather to contend with. So even when the showers frequent, your display will remain in tip-top fashion. Traditional rustic chalkboards continue to be a great choice when you are short on time or have regularly changing offers that you want to share.

Keeping things in order

Hold back the crowds, form an orderly queue, have a VIP red carpet event or define your territory with barrier posts, the simple answer to queue management. Queuing for a busy outdoor attraction can be tiresome and the wait can be painful if it there is no idea how long a queue extends. Keep spirits high with posters or leaflets in stands, or wall holders at frequent pick up points along the queue to market more upcoming events. Another memorable idea is to interact with the queue with entertainers. These could be related to the show, film or theme they are seeing, dressed in relevant costumes, or employ a street magician or stilt walkers. With the added time for security and bag searches at festivals, outdoor music and entertainment events, keep everyone amused with a busker or live singer to help get the party started. If you have a VIP line, keep it separate and clearly marked so revellers don’t get upset when their ticket doesn’t offer the same exclusivity. While they are queuing in the standard line, provide information about how they could become a VIP at your venue or event so they may consider it for next time.

Make your mark

Cafe barriers are made up of a printed graphic panel, not only useful for alfresco dining in cafes, restaurant and pubs but equally practical for nightclubs, shops and leisure attractions. Its main benefit being the ability to print whatever you desire onto the panels. Great for advertising a promotion, your company branding or maybe just some useful directions to guide people to the entrance. These and other pavement signs are ideal for cafes, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and other eateries but equally resourceful at events, fairs and fetes. Coordinate these well-established signage options with other offer displays and make your message consistent with posters, table-top signage or adhoc menus encased in an outdoor holder, or bold printed graphics at exhibitions and events.
