SHELVING SYSTEMS GUIDE
Maximise Space | Streamline Operations | Drive Sales
When you have a project that requires a shelving system, there are a few important factors to consider. From the location of installation to the types of products that will be stored and/or displayed. We’ve compared our most robust shelving ranges to make it easier for you to choose the best shelving for your project.
Ranges Overview
Chrome Wire Shelving
Our Chrome Wire Shelving range is one of our most popular ranges due to its simple yet sturdy design.
This type of unit is also favoured for its versatility, suited for nearly any environment requiring a freestanding shelving solution.
Retail Shelving
Create modular displays with Retail Shelving, that are strong and versatile and can be reconfigured and extended to suit changing requirements.
Often regarded as the professional choice for any retail or point-of-sale environment.
Industrial Shelving & Warehouse Racking
Industrial Shelving and Warehouse Racking excels in areas that have challenging commercial storage needs.
Constructed from steel, these units can stand up to heavy manual loading in storerooms or warehouses but aren’t out of place in a home garage.
Shelves
Are the shelves adjustable?
Each shelving type offers adjustable shelves with incremental positioning; however, Chrome Wire Shelving and Retail Shelving offer the benefit of easier adjustments.
Which shelving offers the heaviest load rating?
All shelving ranges are strong or offer heavy-duty options, but Industrial Shelving are the strongest with some heavy-duty units able to support up to 800kg UDL per shelf, and Warehouse Racking handling up to 850kg UDL per shelf.
Dimensions & Runs
Do the shelves need to fit in a specific space?
Each shelving type is available in a range of sizes. Chrome Wire Shelving typically offers a wider selection, including smaller heights and depths, though all ranges provide multiple dimensions.
Can I create modular shelving or runs?
Retail and Industrial Shelving allow for easy creation and expansion of runs or bays. While Chrome Wire Shelving can be linked, shelving like our Warehouse Racking is better suited to large spaces requiring robust bay construction.
Materials & Styles
What type of environment will the shelves be used?
It's important to consider where the shelving will be installed. Areas exposed to moisture require water-resistant materials like steel rather than chipboard.
What type of shelves are there?
Shelf materials and styles vary by range: Chrome Wire Shelving has steel wire mesh shelves, Retail Shelving features solid steel shelves, available in different colours and with a variety of unit accessories, and Industrial Shelving offers strong, boltless units with galvanised steel or chipboard shelf options.
Installation & Maintenance
Which shelving is the easiest to install/assemble?
Chrome Wire Shelving is the most straightforward to assemble, requiring minimal tools. The other ranges are more complex and may need multiple people, but in turn, they are generally designed to support heavier loads and/or greater quantities.
How do I maintain the shelving units?
All ranges are generally low maintenance; however, we recommend regular inspections to ensure components remain in good condition, particularly for units supporting heavy loading.
Other Considerations
What type of items can be stored?
For liquids or oily products, steel shelves are better than chipboard. Items that benefit from airflow, such as perishable goods, are best suited to open designs like our Chrome Wire Shelving, which allow for ventilation and help maintain product quality.
Are shelving units mobile?
Retail Shelving and Industrial Shelving are freestanding, while Chrome Wire Shelving offers both freestanding and mobile options.
